Re: Wanted: Johnson 6HP service manual

I think there's some magic wiggling that needs to be done on the reverse lever to drop the gearbox down enough to undo the hidden bolts.

and then that special spring goes flying across the garage and lands in a pile of sawdust never to be seen again... :hmmm:

Re: Wanted: Johnson 6HP service manual

Once I have Rapier's manual, I'll be able to safely remove the long shaft and bring it down to you and we can try and chase down a short version.

Re: Wanted: Johnson 6HP service manual

Thanks guys,

I managed to download reasonable copies of the parts catalogue which show how it all goes together.

Rapier - I'll be in touch.

Re: Engine to shaft alignment

I think the accepted tolerance is less than 2 thou per inch of coupling diameter. (1 Thou per inch is considered splitting hairs) So on a 3" diameter coupling, you can have a maximum of 6 thou difference in clearance between the two faces of the coupling. Excessive shaft misalignment causes vibratio...

Wanted: Johnson 6HP service manual

Having acquired a 1967 Johnny 6HP long shaft motor at the weekend, I now need a manual which covers same.

I'd like to beg, borrow or copy a suitable service manual for a CDL-24D motor. So if anyone has a copy they'd care to sell, or allow me to borrow, please PM.

Cheers,

Re: Trailer Kit

Only thinking about it. I have to see how much damage I've done to the axle first.

CMBA Trusses may be cheaper.

Re: Trailer Kit

Thanks Rapier - will take a look.

Just need rollers - no rudder, prop or skeg to worry about.

Trailer Kit

I seem to remember there was someone selling flat-pack trailers - can't for the life of me remember who, but they seemed to be a reasonable price (compared with some). A quick Google comes up with all kinds of stuff - in New Zealand and places... Now I know it wasn't IKEA, but can anyone point me in...
