The springs are there, but are completely rusted up. Could that be what the problem is?

Confused about steering

Hi all, I have cable drum steering on my boat, but I cannot work out how it is supposed to work. I cannot figure out how to attach the outboard, as when I attach it to the solid bar type thing at the stern (see photo), it will not turn because there is not enough slack in the cables. Re: Another Broom Saturn 'FiftySix'

Sorry for the lack of updates. I started some fibreglass work yesterday, I'll get some photos up if it ever stops raining

I'll be doing more work over the next week, then I am on holiday for 2 weeks, then I have five weeks free :chuffed:

Re: Another Broom Saturn

Thanks for the advice guys. I received my 2m sq fibreglass patch/repair kit today. Am I right in thinking: Remove old/broken fibreglass Clean area with acetone Paint resin around the edges Layer CSM with resin on each layer. Leave to cure Put surface tissue on top with more resin. Thanks in advance :)

Re: Another Broom Saturn

OK, next question, should a hole be patched from the inside or outside?
Also, will 5hp be enough for the first few trips pottering on the canal (I'm thinking way too far in advance I know  )

Thanks again :)

Re: Another Broom Saturn

BroomBroom, how did you make your boat cradle?

Was it just one horizontal piece of wood, with two small vertical ones and carpet stretched in between?

Like this?
