Classic Boat's offer to display one of our boats in the feature at the 2008 London Boat Show (January 11th to 20th, 2008 at ExCel London Docklands) was a fantastic opportunity to publicise the CMBA.

The exhibit is Colliwobble (see photo, right) which was the 1962 London Boat Show boat of her builder, Venables. Currently owned by Steve Carpenter, the boat was bought from the show at that time by member Peter Allen.

As part of our 10th anniversary celebrations we will be updating our website which is currently undergoing reconstruction.

Colliwobble's design is primarily Class 'B' stock utility racing, from plans published in various magazines such as Popular Mechanics and Mechanix Illustrated during the 1950s. Self build plans are still available on the internet. She is powered by an early 1960s Mercury 200 (20-25hp) able to reach speeds in excess of 35mph and has a thrilling ride. With a tremendously strong hull, is very capable in rough water (albeit wet) and is quick around a race bouy.
